Friends,

This week, the Texas Delegation and I celebrated Texas Independence Day the only way Texans know how: loud and proud. On Tuesday I participated in a roundtable with the House Intelligence Committee with various national security think tank leaders. I also engaged in something that rarely happens in Congress–an actual debate about substantive energy policy.

I ended the week by going on Fox News to continue to speak out against deadly fentanyl coming across our southern border in droves, and shed light on how China is helping the drug cartels create it.

Sincerely,

Rep. Dan Crenshaw

Must Watch: An Actual Debate in Congress

Image

Believe it or not, real debates are pretty rare up here. This week, we had one at an Energy and Commerce hearing, discussing my new legislation the Keeping America’s Refineries Act.

For context, we were talking about a Biden EPA rule that is designed to go after certain types of refineries (50% of the country’s capacity in fact) because a chemical they use is “dangerous.” But is it? NO! This EPA rule is just an attempt to destroy our oil and gas industry and raise your gas prices so you’ll be forced to buy an electric car. That’s basically what we argue about here. Worth the watch…

America Has a Poisoning Problem

Image

Human nature will always fall victim to self-destruction, like drug addiction. To stop the fentanyl crisis, we need to target the root supply. How do we do this? Cut off the suppliers—the cartels—and the ones who aid them: the Chinese Communist Party. China is actively sending fentanyl precursors to these criminals. They and the cartels have a mutual interest in weakening America. Let’s not continue to enable their attempts to destroy us.

The New Cold War: China and the Race to Control the World’s Computing Power | Chris Miller

Image

Economic historian Chris Miller joins me to talk about one of the most important battles of the 21st century: control of silicon chip manufacturing. We cover how silicon chips are made, how Taiwan gained the competitive advantage in manufacturing, China’s attempts to usurp Taiwan as the world’s chipmaking hub, how the U.S. enabled China’s development of their artificial intelligence systems, and what we need to do to catch up with Taiwan’s manufacturing capabilities. America's Role in Ukraine | A Debate with William Ruger

Image

In a debate hosted by National Review Institute, Cato Institute's William Ruger and I take opposing sides on the question of America's role in the Russia-Ukraine War. Does America have a strategic interest in providing support to Ukraine? More broadly, does America have a duty to defend liberty abroad? Do our own freedom and prosperity depend on success of these values around the world? Listen now on Apple or Spotify.

Fox News: Rep. Dan Crenshaw: Cartels are ‘waging war’ on America

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, unpacks his call to use military force against cartels as the border and drug crises continue to harm American families and plague communities.

Woodlands Online: 2023 Economic Outlook Conference draws record crowds, economy experts, and industry leaders

By eight o’clock, the EOC was in high gear. After welcoming remarks, pledges, and invocations from local luminaries such as Chamber president and CEO JJ Hollie, Howard Hughes Corporation’s president of Houston Region Jim Carman, and former District 8 Congressman Kevin Brady, the crowd was treated to a live, virtual speech by the current representative of Congressional District 8, Dan Crenshaw, who stressed the hard work to fight against a stifling economy that seems to plague the outside world but leaves The Woodlands relatively unscathed.

E&E Daily: House Republicans accelerate march toward big energy package

House Republicans are taking action on numerous bills that will make for part of their sweeping energy and permitting reform package, which they hope to put on the floor for a vote by the end of March. (...) The Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Climate and Grid Security will also mark up the following bills: H.R. 1155, the “Keeping America’s Refineries Act” from Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), which would prevent the phaseout of traditional gasoline.

The Daily Wire: Massive Fentanyl Shipment, Enough To Kill 50 Million People, Seized In California

In mid-January, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw championed the use of the U.S. military to combat the drug cartels smuggling deadly fentanyl across the southern border into the United States. Crenshaw spoke with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto, who prompted Crenshaw by asking what it was that had Crenshaw concerned. “Well, look, we recently introduced AUMF, an Authorized Use of Military Force against the cartels and any other organizations that traffic fentanyl specifically,” Crenshaw answered. “So why now and why not years ago? These Mexican drug cartels have been around for a while. The difference now is fentanyl.”

The Wall Street Journal: The U.S. Must Defeat Mexico’s Drug Cartels

America can no longer tolerate narco-terrorist cartels. Operating from havens in Mexico, their production of deadly drugs on an industrial scale is flooding our country with this poison. The time is long past to deal with this outrage decisively. Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R., Texas) and Michael Waltz (R., Fla.) have proposed a joint resolution giving the president authority to use the U.S. military against these cartels in Mexico. This is a necessary step and puts the focus where it must be.
