Change happens when we work together, friend.

I’m honoured to work with the inspiring and trailblazing women who make up our Liberal team.

In 2015, our Liberal government announced Canada’s first gender-balanced Cabinet. In 2018, Karina Gould was the first woman Cabinet minister to give birth while in office. In 2020, Marci Ien and Ya’ara Saks became the 99th and 100th women to join the House of Commons. And in 2021, I was one of the 103 women elected to the House of Commons – the most ever for all parties.

While we’re making incredible progress, there’s more to be done.

Despite the progress being made, research suggests that a woman is 50% less likely than a man to consider herself a potential candidate for elected office. We have a collective responsibility to work together and support women candidates and to bring more diverse voices to politics.

Next week is International Women’s Day – and ahead of it, we’re calling on Liberal supporters to chip in towards the Judy LaMarsh Fund.


This fund, named in honour of Judy LaMarsh – Canada’s first Liberal woman in cabinet – helps ensure women Liberal candidates can run strong campaigns all across Canada.
