Stand in the Gap for America

Dear John,

There's a shocking headline from last fall which you may have missed, a story indicative of the Left's deeply dangerous ideology.

On October 21, a star of the University of Montana men's track team for the past two seasons named Jonathan Eastwood -- who now identifies as "June"--was named Female Athlete of the Week by the Big Sky Conference. Unsurprisingly, Eastwood has dominated this season in a dozen track meets against female competitors.

Erasing the distinction between men and women in athletic competitions would be one of the first impacts of the Equality Act, which is supported by every liberal figure currently occupying the news spotlight.

Family Research Council is raising the alarm about this extreme anti-family, anti-life, anti-freedom bill. The Equality Act would massively overhaul our federal civil rights framework by mandating special privileges for sexual orientation and gender identity. It would impose on all Americans a new orthodoxy of sexuality and identity, with far-reaching effects.

That scene of a 22-year-old, six-foot-five biological male shifting the playing field to best his female peers, once inconceivable, would be repeated across the country if the Equality Act is signed into law.

FRC has been leading the charge against this bill and its harmful policies. We continue to be your voice in Washington because of your faithful support.

Bills like the Equality Act dismiss historic, orthodox biblical views about sex and relationships as political, unscientific, or even hateful. Yet these beliefs are grounded in transcendent truths.

First, it's a biological fact that each person is either male or female. Scripture affirms this truth as stated in Genesis 1:27 (ESV): "In the image of God... male and female he created them."

The very next chapter outlines how marriage is defined. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." states Genesis 2:24 (ESV).

Lest anyone think these principles are not reflected in the New Testament as well, remember that Jesus, when asked about marriage, explicitly restated these verses in Matthew 19.

At FRC, analysis of current events begins with clear, biblically informed understanding. Politics is, at its core, about how we love our neighbor as we live and order our lives together. That is the message FRC's Director of Christian Ethics and Worldview David Closson communicates in his recently authored booklet Biblical Principles for Political Engagement.

FRC partners with thousands of pastors in pulpits across this nation encouraging them to have the moral courage and leadership to preach on pressing moral issues, but -- as Closson explains in the publication -- that alone is not enough to change our nation.

Christians in the pews need to see voting as a matter of stewardship and be informed about how their faith ought to influence their engagement in public policies.

That is why the voice of FRC -- on cable news, our daily radio show, online, and in every conceivable medium -- is needed today more than ever.

KEEP FRC'S VOICE GOING STRONG

FRC remains dedicated to keeping leaders informed, both in the heartland and on Capitol Hill.

Liberals' extreme agenda goes beyond the Equality Act. We've even heard a bold call for any church or other nonprofit group that does not explicitly endorse same-sex marriage and special LGBTQ rights to lose its tax-exempt status.

You'll also hear liberal politicians in the news, making promises to "repeal the Hyde Amendment," a long-standing bipartisan policy that protects lives in the womb by ensuring that U.S. taxpayer dollars do not directly fund abortion services.

Despite more than 75 percent of Americans not wanting their tax dollars entangled with the abortion industry, the far-left "reverse Hyde" faction presses on.

How can we respond to this agenda of death? We must continually go back to the Word of God for His eternal wisdom. "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds," wrote the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:4 (ESV).

Those "weapons" Paul speaks of are ones we know well: the Bible (which is sharper than any two-edged sword), the testimonies of God's work in our lives, and our prayers.

Thank you in advance for your support. Your 2020 FRC partnership helps us stay on the field and in the battle towards victory.

P.S. - Make no mistake, the Left's years-long partisan effort to impeach President Trump is ultimately about one thing: stopping the advancement of pro-faith, pro-family, and pro-freedom policies under this administration. We cannot stop battling for even a moment. Can you help us continue 2020 on solid footing by giving your best gift?
