187 years ago, brave men from across the Texas Republic signed a declaration of their independence against the tyranny of Santa Anna and the Mexican Empire in the same mold of the founding fathers of America in 1776.

They were inspired by the desire for liberty and freedom from tyranny. Now, we stand on the shoulders of those who fought for the right to be free. Today, we celebrate and honor those who fought for an independent Texas from Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, William B. Travis, and more.

As a Member of Congress, the needs of Texas and TX-36 are front and center, and I will always fight to make sure those needs are met. It will require nothing less, because what’s good for Texas is good for America.
