Blinken Demands End to War
Secretary of State Antony Blinken confronted his Russian counterpart and demanded that Russia end its war against Ukraine, in an unexpected meeting on Thursday that was the first private, face-to-face exchange between a U.S. cabinet member and a top Russian official since the invasion last year, as the NYT reports

Kremlin Accuses Ukraine of Violent Attack in Western Russia
The Kremlin on Thursday blamed Ukraine for an attack in two villages in the Bryansk region of western Russia, in which President Vladimir Putin said assailants had “opened fire on civilians” and the Bryansk governor said two people were killed and hostages were taken. An aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied that Kyiv was involved in the incident, as The Washington Post reports

White House Officials Launch Cybersecurity Strategy at CSIS
An ambitious and wide-ranging White House cybersecurity plan released Thursday calls for bolstering protections on critical sectors and making software companies legally liable when their products don’t meet basic standards. The strategy document promises to use “all instruments of national power” to pre-empt cyberattacks, as the AP reports
