More Trump Administration Wins

This week brought three noteworthy articles about ways that the administration of President Donald Trump is having profoundly positive effects on America:

The first topic is jobs.

There is one chart that the President re-election campaign should be "plastering absolutely everywhere," according to Fox Business host Deirdre Bolton. See that graphic, above.

As Fox News noted:

The average unemployment rate nearly three years into President Trump's administration is 3.9 percent -- a 50-year low. The next best employment statistic was recorded during President George W. Bush's first term at 5.5 percent.

That statistic coupled with the fact that the wages of American workers are rising for the first time in years presents a challenge for Democrats in the 2020 election, according to the "Deep Dive" panel.

The second change concerns energy.

Bryan Preston at PJMedia writes

You won’t hear this from the media, but America under President Trump is doing well. Very well, in fact. A true read of the state of our union is simple: We’re strong and we’re getting stronger fast... There’s almost too much good news to pack into one paragraph. It all points to growing American strength just a few years after President Barack Obama mused aloud about a “post-American world.”

... The US is now the world’s largest energy producer and a net exporter. Instead of depending on the unstable Middle East, we’re depending on North Dakota and Texas. This changes everything.

The third big impact comes from judges.

Ballotpedia just released a statistical analysis of federal judicial vacancies as Trump entered office and likely to become available during his term.

According to the report:

  • Of the 870 life-term federal judicial positions, Trump inherited 108 vacancies. Not since Bill Clinton has an incoming president had the opportunity to fill this many life-term appointments to Article III courts at the start of an administration.
  • The 108 vacancies represented roughly one in every eight life-term judicial positions (12.41%).
  • Over half, or approximately 438, judges currently serving in these 870 positions will be eligible to take senior status, thereby creating a judicial vacancy, by the end of 2020. This means there is a possibility that 50.3 percent of life-term appointments could be vacant by the end of Trump's first term.

Over at the Legal Insurrection blog, William A. Johnson notes that, "Having lost the House, Senate and presidency, and being devastated at the state level, Democrats/liberals risk losing the judiciary as well. And they have Harry Reid and the other Democrats who went nuclear in 2013 to thank for it."

Israel Hosts Gathering to Mark 75 years Since the Liberation of the Auschwitz

The Hill reports:

US officials will join 50 world leaders traveling to Jerusalem this week to participate in the fifth annual World Holocaust Forum, marking 75 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp… The event marks Israel’s largest diplomatic gathering ever and will officially begin on Thursday, with ceremonies commemorating the victims of the Holocaust.

Everything you need to know about the fifth World Holocaust Forum is here

Vice President Mike Pence spoke to the gathered dignitaries at an event at Yad Vashem earlier today. He said

The word “remember” appears no fewer than 169 times in the Hebrew Bible — for memory is the constant obligation of all generations… Today we remember what happens when the powerless cry for help and the powerful refuse to answer.

…When soldiers opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, they found 7,000 half-starved, half-naked prisoners, hundreds of boxes of camp records that documented the greatest mass murder in history.  Before the war was over, in its five years of existence, more than 1.1 million men, women, and children would perish at Auschwitz.

… Today we remember not simply the liberation of Auschwitz but also the triumph of freedom — a promise fulfilled, a people restored to their rightful place among the nations of the Earth.  And we remember — we remember the long night of that past, the survivors and the faces of those we lost, the heroes who stood against those evil times.  And today we gather nearly 50 nations strong, here in Jerusalem, to say with one voice: Never again.

Later, the Vice President visited the Western Wall with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Want to influence Israel? The Zionist Congress election gives you the chance

Jonathan Tobin explains why the upcoming 38th World Zionist Congress election is so important. The Congress chooses the leadership of the World Zionist Organization, as well as the board of the Jewish Agency for Israel, the United Israel Appeal, and the Jewish National Fund. These bodies help determine the allocation of more than $1 billion to be spent on development projects in Israel, including in the territories, as well as education in the Diaspora.

American left-wingers are trying to get elected so they can stop funding for Jewish settlements in the West Bank and promote their vision of a two-state solution.

There are 15 slates vying for the votes of American Jewry in the online election being held from January 21 to March 11. You can learn more, see the slates and their platforms, register, and vote here.
