John, I have some truly incredible news to share: One of the country's major drug manufacturers has announced that they will cap insulin prices at $35.
This is a monumental change for the millions of Americans who rely on insulin to stay alive. I'm happy with this announcement, but let's be honest here: Insulin prices should never have been so unaffordable to begin with.
And it's no secret why they're making this announcement now. In the Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats included a provision to cap insulin costs at $35 for seniors. Despite constant GOP opposition, President Biden, Senate Democrats, and tireless grassroots activists like you pushed the needle enough to win real change.
I hope that this is the beginning of a larger shift to lower insulin prices and prices of prescription drugs across the board. But there is more work ahead of us still, and big change like this is only possible with a Democratic majority in the Senate.
With election experts already warning that Democrats have a tough fight ahead of us in 2024, we have to start gathering strong grassroots resources right now. So please, if you have anything extra to spare tonight, will you rush $5 to protect our Democratic majority so we can keep on making high-quality health care affordable and accessible to all?
