Dear Friend,
Earlier this week, we shared an article online about an
11-year-old in Maine who spoke out against 'pornographic' content in
his school.
In the article, "Knox
Zajac, an 11–year-old sixth grader, spoke up at a school board meeting
last week to read aloud from the book 'Nick and Charlie' that he had
checked out of his school’s library. The age advisory in this book is
14 years of age and older. 'Nick and Charlie,' written by Alice
Oseman, begins with two early teen boys stealing wine from their
parents and proceeding to experiment sexually with one another. . . .
'This book was on the stand. . . . When I rented it out and showed my
dad it, the librarian asked if I wanted more and if I wanted a graphic
novel version,' Zajac said."
Cases like this are occurring all over our
country.
It comes in the form of gender unicorns, pornographic books,
inappropriate curriculums, privacy-invading surveys, parent-evading
counseling, and more. We have even seen some of it with our own eyes,
and it's almost unbelievable that it could be happening in North
Carolina's schools.
We believe parents are the primary educators of their
children and should know what their children are learning. Since our
country’s founding, our laws and courts have upheld the fundamental
right of parents to educate and to raise their children as they see
fit. In recent years, government bureaucrats and teachers’ unions have
pushed to exclude parents from the educational process. These are some
of the many reasons we are pursuing the passage of a Parents Bill of
Rights that protects parents and their children against
indoctrination and interference in the parent/child relationship. The bill has already passed the NC
Senate, and we are hoping the House takes it up
soon!
We are looking for parents with first-hand experience with
issues in NC schools related to transparency, indoctrination, or
inappropriate materials. We are also looking for parents who have been
denied access to their child's medical information. If you are any of
those, we would be grateful if you would share your story with us. We
need your stories to help get the Parents Bill of Rights passed in the
House.
If you share our values and have had an experience where
you believe your parental rights were violated, would you contact
[email protected].
Sincerely,
Tami & Team, NC Values
