John,
As we celebrate Women's History Month this March, I am thrilled to reflect on the incredible women making significant strides and contributions to our state and party. As the first female chair of the Delaware Democratic Party, I’m keenly aware of the shoulders I stand on and the torch I carry.
Last year, the Delaware Democratic Party made history by electing an all-female slate to our statewide offices by electing Lisa Blunt Rochester to serve in Congress, Kathy Jennings as Attorney General, Colleen Davis as Treasurer, and Lydia York as Auditor of Accounts. Their victories were hard-won and well-deserved, and they have already begun to make a difference in our communities.
But our progress does not stop there. Women now also make up a majority in both the Delaware House and Senate Democratic caucuses, and we continue to prioritize supporting and electing women to all levels of government.
This Women's History Month, as our rights and freedoms are being jeopardized, we look to the trailblazing women who have come before us and seek inspiration from their legacy by continuing to fight for a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
Sincerely,
Betsy
Chair, Delaware Democratic Party
