MARCH ON is dedicated to increasing voter turnout and driving Democrats to the polls. Our data-driven solutions led the way for progressive victories in 2020 and 2022. Now, we're gearing up to stop Trump’s comeback in 2024.

Friend, happy Read Across America Day!

The National Education Association created Read Across America to encourage children and teens to read books that they see themselves reflected in – as well as celebrate diversity by learning about new worlds or characters different from them.

But across the country, children won’t be able to celebrate today by reading in their classroom or school library – thanks to ultra-restrictive book bans passed by Republican-led state legislatures in states like Florida, Texas, and Tennessee.

And students aren’t the only victims of these awful book bans – teachers and librarians are being forced to remove books from their shelves or face charges, including up to 5 years in jail in Florida.

Friend, we cannot let these tyrannical book bans stand – so on this year’s Read Across America Day, we’re asking you to take action to defend teachers, librarians, and the freedom to read by contacting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and demanding that he end restrictive book bans now.

Friend, as you may already know, the #1 targets of these Republican-led bans are books that discuss racial issues, LGBTQ+ identities, and women’s empowerment.

But it’s important that everyone is able to read these important works to learn more about history, diversity, and the world around us – so this month, we’ll be recommending banned books for you and your loved ones to read!
