On Tuesday, March 7th, the DC Council will vote on the Street Vendor Advancement Act of 2023, the first of two votes. This bill will decriminalize vending without a license, establish vending zones for vendors to legally operate in, and waive unpaid licensing-related civil citations that caused vendors hardship, among many other things.
Street Vendors are a necessary and vibrant part of DC, yet they face many obstacles under current restrictive vending laws. Vendors and advocates have been organizing to fight against these systemic issues for years and they are close to the finish line!Chairman Mendelson and Councilmember Nadeau have introduced the Street Vendor Advancement Amendment Act of 2023. This is a huge win for our community but we still need the bill to make it swiftly through Council!
