On this day — 187 years ago — Texas declared independence from Mexico and
established itself as a sovereign republic and a force to be reckoned with the world over.

Texas legend Sam Houston once said, “Texas can make it without the
United States, but the United States cannot make it without Texas.” And his words still ring true today!

boasts the second largest GDP, hosts the most Fortune 500 companies, and produces more energy than any other state — which powers our nation and
creates thousands of jobs!
