IPA at 20: Reflections from Executive Director Annie Duflo

For 20 years, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) has created and used evidence to improve the lives of the millions of people around the world—almost nine percent of humanity—who live in poverty. Working with partners, we have asked questions and implemented rigorous research around what works, and what does not, to improve lives and ensure that investments in global development are based on more than just good intentions. We have supported the use of evidence and data in numerous countries and contexts and helped build a culture of evidence-informed
decision-making across the development sector. It is conservatively estimated that IPA’s work has affected over 300 million people around the globe.

Prices and Farmer Investment: Evidence from Experimental Studies

IPA and the Investment Centre of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recently published an Investment Brief about commodity pricing in low- and middle-income countries’ food systems. The brief assesses to what extent price changes transmit to smallholder farmers, the barriers, and how these price changes influence farmers’ investment decisions.

Redesigned Logo and Website
In case you missed it, IPA launched its new logo and website, containing new features to improve accessibility and modernize its branding. The new logo features an illustration of connected data points, evoking a sense of the evidence and relationships key to IPA's work. IPA's website has been redesigned to include a range of new features and improvements, including the addition of versions in French and Spanish and a People of IPA section to highlight colleagues across the organization.
