Dear John,
Moments ago, the Trump Administration released a new Dirty Water Rule.
This rule strips Clean Water Act protections from streams that provide drinking water to millions of people. It opens up bodies of water in every state to pollution.
We need your help to stop this plan in its tracks. Together we can demand the EPA change course and reject Trump’s attack on clean water. But we must act fast!
Protect our clean water: Tell the EPA to reject Trump’s Dirty Water Rule!
Streams and wetlands work as natural filters and sponges -- keeping our drinking water safe while reducing the impact of floods. Even the waterways that don’t flow year-round are connected to larger water bodies that feed drinking water sources and provide habitats.
But Trump’s Dirty Water Rule would make it easier to pave over or drain the very wetlands and streams that protect communities and fuel drinking water sources.
What’s worse, we’re already losing wetlands across the country to construction and climate change. If the Dirty Water Rule takes effect, it will exacerbate this loss.
In short, Trump’s Dirty Water Rule ignores science, the law, and public opinion. And it puts Big Polluters and corporations over people and our planet.
The good news: Trump’s plan is still just a proposal. But this is Trump’s boldest attack yet, and he’s closer than ever to having his way. We need you to act fast to save our communities from the Dirty Water Rule. Can we count on your support?
Tell the EPA to protect our drinking water, streams and waterways, not Big Polluter profits!
Last year, Trump gutted the Clean Water Rule -- threatening the drinking water of 1 in 3 Americans. Now, he’s trying to replace it with his new Dirty Water Rule -- spelling disaster for low-income communities and communities of color who are often disproportionately impacted by polluted water.
The Dirty Water Rule will exacerbate this inequality by letting corporate special interests get away with polluting or destroying wetlands and streams.
Water equity matters. Access to safe drinking water is a prerequisite for healthy, thriving communities where everyone can participate, prosper and reach their full potential. We must fight Trump’s latest attack on our environment and our most vulnerable communities. It will be an uphill battle, but we’ve blocked Trump’s environmental attacks before. With your help we can do it again!
