Our district in Northern Michigan and the UP (MI01) is one of the most beautiful in the country, but we lack a Congressperson willing to alleviate the pain of struggling rural communities. A MAGA insurrectionist has poorly represented MI01 in Washington since 2017. Before that, however, we were under solid Democratic representation for nearly two decades.
I need your help getting us back on track.
My campaign created the Rural Fund not only on behalf of our district; but to spark a movement in the heartland that will advance shared Democratic principles in areas where candidates need it the most - in ruby-red, conservative districts. Voters here are fiercely independent; if we can reach them, there's no place riper to change the most minds.
We've already laid a lot of groundwork, but as you know, Democrats have a lot of work to do to convince neglected voters they deserve better. Hardworking families get by with tenacity, grit, and perseverance. It's how they survive, but they deserve so much more.
I'm running on affordable and accessible healthcare for all, childcare, education, and housing. I am a champion for worker's rights and livable wages. I'm a fierce fighter for conservation, an advocate for Great Lakes' protections, and environmental sustainability. I am a strong proponent of individual liberties, meaning I will stand tall to protect women's rights, the LGBTQ community, and fearful young people who are victims of the proliferation of depression and gun violence.
I grew up in a working-class Midwest home and dedicated my life to public service - as a social worker, physician, diplomat, and public health director.
