A Pro-Life Agenda for the 118th Congress - In June 2022, the Supreme Court righted a grave wrong when it overturned Roe v. Wade and opened the door for policymakers to pass more pro-life measures at the state and federal levels. This opportunity should not be squandered. The 118th Congress has a constitutional duty to protect the most vulnerable and innocent members of the human family. This report provides a road map for Congress to advance pro-life policies in this challenging political setting. Congress should make the case for life to the American people, hold the Biden Administration accountable, and build on the pro-life movement’s momentum, moving America closer to the day when abortion is unthinkable. Conservative Groups Are Building An Army Of Personnel To Take Over The Government – Conservative organizations are coming together to develop well-trained personnel and a detailed policy agenda for the next presidential administration. Project 2025, organized by The Heritage Foundation, is bringing together 45 conservative groups to develop policy and personnel for the next administration, Associate director Spencer Chretien said in an editorial for The American Conservative. “For decades, as the left has continued its march through America’s institutions, conservatives have been outgunned and outmatched when it comes to the art of government,” Chretien writes. “More and more of our politicians are willing to use the government to achieve our vision, because the neutrality of ‘keeping the government out of it’ will lose every time to the left’s vast power.” Heritage Expert: Paul Dans and Spencer Chretien
School administrators undermine excellence to promote ‘equity’ – The American education system is being rigged by hard-core, radical leftist administrators and teachers and their unions. But their efforts go beyond implementing racist policies, corrupting our children with anti-American, pro-Marxist propaganda, sowing gender confusion and canceling parental rights. They’re also diminishing and curtailing hard work and success. The latest example: 17 schools in Virginia did not notify students and their parents of National Merit awards those students had earned. That outrageous behavior was based on the bizarre claim that letting the students know about their commendations would not promote the school administrators’ stated objective of “equal outcomes for every student, without exceptions,” regardless of academic performance or lack of dedication to their studies. Appeals Court Steals Show on ERA Amid Senate Panel’s Bid to Resurrect Dead Amendment - Advocates of the ERA want Congress to “recognize ratification” of the ERA that Congress proposed in 1972 even though the states refused to ratify it. The ERA died when its ratification deadline passed with fewer than the requisite three-fourths of the states ratifying it, as stipulated in the Constitution. Article V of the Constitution spells out the amendment process. Votes of two-thirds of both houses of Congress may propose an amendment and specify whether states must ratify it through their legislatures or by state conventions. A proposed amendment becomes part of the Constitution when ratified by 38 states. Heritage Expert: Tom Jipping
Biden’s Misleading New Asylum Rule Is a Gimmick Atop a Shell Game - Now, in anticipation of even higher numbers of illegal alien encounters with the coming termination of the Title 42 public health authority used to expel migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic, the departments of Homeland Security and Justice have proposed a joint rule to avoid more bad optics. In it, the departments “encourage” illegal aliens to “avail themselves of [the] lawful, safe, and orderly pathways” the Biden administration created, or “seek asylum or other protection in countries through which they travel.” Heritage Expert: Lora Ries
10 New Cases of Vote Fraud Again Demonstrate Imperative of Election Security - While not an exhaustive or comprehensive list, the database presents a sampling of cases from across the country that demonstrate the reality that fraud does occur and that lawmakers need to implement the types of safeguards outlined in Heritage’s Election Integrity Scorecard that can help secure both access to, and the integrity of, the election process. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.) Here are the latest highlights, which occurred in several states ranging from New York and Michigan to Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, and which also demonstrate that election fraud is a bipartisan activity. Unpacking the Oral Arguments Against Biden’s Student Loan Cancellation - The Supreme Court heard two cases Tuesday challenging the Biden administration’s claim that it could use a law meant to provide relief to first responders and military personnel after 9/11 to cancel $430 billion in student loan debt for over 40 million borrowers. The administration has relied on an emergency-powers law called the HEROES Act, which was passed in response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. President Joe Biden claims that he can use that law to cancel student loan debt for more than 95% of all borrowers. At oral argument, the justices and lawyers debated a wide range of questions, but at the core of the sprawling dispute were two questions that arose again and again in different forms: First, does any challenger opposed to what the administration is doing have a right to sue; and, if so, is mass debt cancellation a question that only Congress can decide?
