Hi John!
“Tomorrow is too late”, this is the slogan of tomorrow’s global climate march. Once again, hundreds of thousands of people around the globe will gather in cities, towns and villages, to demand what should be obvious by now: an end to the financing of all fossil fuel projects!
We also believe that governments have to stop subsidies, financial incentives, or other support from the public sector to fossil-fuel-related activities, including investments in fossil-fuel infrastructure.
Instead of investing in technologies from the past, public and private, investments need to flow towards green activities that help the transition from a polluting fossil-based economy to a sustainable, inclusive and regenerative economy.
Climate action is urgently needed because unless there is a drastic reduction in global emissions, limiting warming to 1.5°C or even 2°C by the end of the century will no longer be possible.
Therefore, we will join the global climate movement on the streets tomorrow and support their fight for immediate action, and we ask you, to do the same!

Italy
More than 60 killed in migrant boat wreck
|
The policies of Fortress Europe have once again cost innocent lives in the Mediterranean. A boat with an estimated 200 passengers succumbed to the rough seas of southern Italy, resulting in at least 60 migrant deaths. We call for a radical shift away from Fortress Europe towards an open, welcoming society. We must put an end to the tragedies in the Mediterranean and build a better, more compassionate future for all. It's time for Europe to live up to its values by prioritising human dignity over borders and taking action to prevent these tragedies.

Register for webinar about Norwegian Campaign App

In the run-up to the 2021 national elections Miljøpartiet De Grønne, Norwegian Greens, used an app that enabled volunteers to identify the best neighbourhoods for canvassing and to report their canvassing activities back to campaign headquarters. The EGP's Green Campaign Handbook Team is pleased to invite you to a webinar with Vegard Setrom, the CRM and systems manager of Norwegian Greens.
Vegard will talk about the campaign activities the app can support and how to use the app to report, motivate, and reward volunteers. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, March 14 at 18:00 CET. The registration is open for all members of EGP Member Parties, FYEG, and other Green partners.

Berlin Greens head-to-head with social democrats
|
In the repeated Berlin state elections, the Greens could get 18.5 % of all votes. The Greens were just 53 votes short to become the 2nd largest party in Germany’s capital city. We congratulate the Greens to this success and wish them all the best for this mandate.

Spain
New progressive policies in Spain
|
Our member party and part of the junior partner of the coalition in the Spanish government, Catalunya en Comú, is pushing for progressive policies that truly benefit the people:
- The new Trans Law allows anyone over 16 years old to legally change their registered gender and bans conversion therapy.
- In addition, Spain is the first country to introduce paid menstrual leave for people who have incapacitating periods.
- The new abortion law also removes the requirement of parental consent for 16–18-year-olds seeking abortions and eliminates the three-day reflection period.
These policies are a great step towards a more inclusive, equitable and feminist society.

Time for a 4-day work week
|
Researchers and campaigners from the UK joined forces to run a 4-day work week trial in 61 companies last year. Around 2,900 employees took part in it. Their working week was reduced from five days to four, with no associated loss of pay, and work time was reduced to 32 hours. Most of the employees who took part in the trial felt less stressed and observed a significant reduction in burnout and overtime. Most importantly, 91% of the companies that participated decided to continue with the 4-day work week!
Do you want to make a 4-day work week a future in Europe? Sign tilt's petition!

Green MEPs win fight for better working conditions
As the Greens, we believe that everyone deserves decent employment. Platform workers such as Uber or Lyft couriers are often under precarious contracts and managed by obscure algorithms. Green MEPs such as Kim Van Sparrentak and Alexandra Geese have pushed back on ‘bogus self-employment’, obscure algorithmic management, and the use of facial recognition software. In the last few weeks, they beat Uber's aggressive lobby! The European Parliament adopted their proposal to end fake self-employment and protect people against intrusive algorithms. Read more…
