March is Women's History Month, and we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible contributions that women have made throughout history, even in the face of massive adversity and obstacles. From the suffragettes who fought for the right to vote to the millions of women who have made their mark in fields ranging from science and technology to politics and beyond, women have been a driving force for progress and change.

As Democrats, we have always been at the forefront of the fight for women's rights and equality. Here in New Mexico, we have a rich history of women's political leadership. In 1924, New Mexico became the first state to elect a woman, Soledad Chávez de Chacón, to a statewide executive office as Secretary of State. More recently, in 2018, Deb Haaland became the first Native American woman elected to Congress. In 2020, New Mexico elected Teresa Leger Fernández, the first Latina woman to represent our state in Congress.
