Folks --

I have an important question to ask you as we near the end of January and approach another critical deadline coming up next week. I hope you'll grant me a moment to explain why this is so important.

I didn't take the usual path to public office.

I worked as a geologist then became a brewer and small business owner whose successful brewpub helped revitalize a neglected warehouse district in Denver.

Then, I ran for mayor and eventually governor, creating jobs here in Colorado and getting things done that mattered for people by bringing folks together around our common values.

It wasn't easy then, and I know it won't be easy now -- not with the bickering and partisanship in Washington, some of which is on display this week. But I know we can do it again if we win this election the right way.

My opponent is considered the most vulnerable Republican Senator in the country, but he's also backed by Mitch McConnell's network of right-wing billionaire donors who are going to do everything they can to tear us down. We can't let them get away with it.

So, as we approach our first monthly fundraising deadline of the year, we're looking to raise $500,000 from as many grassroots donors as possible in the next week.

Will you make a donation of $10 or more toward our January fundraising deadline today? The amount you donate honestly isn't as important as the act of donating, which is a declaration of your support for the kind of campaign we're running.

I'm ready to get to work in Washington -- fighting to lower our health care costs, safeguard families from gun violence, and combat climate change.

But first, we need to win this race. I'm up for that challenge, and I need to know you're with me.

Thanks for stepping up and for all you do.
