John,
US greenhouse gas emissions saw a record single-year spike in 2021.
A draft report from the Environmental Protection Agency just found 2021's carbon emissions totaled 6,347.7 million metric tons, largely because of the increased auto emissions as driving rebounded in the second year of the pandemic.
John, this is the case in point why the future of transportation has to be electric. And our SEEC Members are working tirelessly in Congress to ensure we’re taking the steps necessary to get there.

President Biden’s landmark Inflation Reduction Act includes $370 billion in new spending on tax credits and incentives encouraging the development of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and support for American companies to manufacture clean energy components and products here in America.
And because of these investments, we’re already begun to see a massive wave of announcements of new electric vehicle manufacturing facilities across the country. Members like SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Doris Matsui have been pushing for years for higher vehicle greenhouse gas standards, and we’re finally seeing the fruits of that labor.
Despite the groundwork they’ve already laid, our Members are up against a majority party that continues to prioritize corporations over our climate — and getting our climate-forward agenda through Congress is going to be a tooth-and-nail fight. Help ensure we can continue championing our clean energy priorities in D.C. and across the nation by supporting our SEEC Members’ work with a donation of $8 today.

Last cycle, the candidates who led with the climate turned out incredible numbers at the polls. Now, half of freshman Democrats are SEEC Members — and it’s all thanks to your support, John.
We can and will continue growing our climate coalition in Congress so we can meet President Biden’s clean energy goals, but if there’s one thing 2022 taught us, it’s that we need grassroots support on our side to get it done. Can we count on your donation to help grow our numbers in 2024 so we can continue working toward a clean energy future?
