Dear John,
Yesterday, I was proud to stand alongside activists and fellow members of Congress in front of the Supreme Court to advocate for student loan forgiveness.
SCOTUS heard oral arguments yesterday in opposition to President Biden’s plan to eliminate up to $20,000 per borrower in federal student loans. Let’s be clear: Biden’s action to implement mass student debt relief will liberate thousands of Vermonters from back-breaking interest payments.
An entire generation of people are being held back by crushing student loan debt. These companies have profited off of young people who wanted to get an education. As a former public school teacher, I know firsthand that there is no greater equalizer in our society than a quality education. But right now, generations of Americans are being punished for their desire to access the opportunities that higher education provides.
We cannot let the Supreme Court un-do the tremendous progress made by President Biden. That’s why I'm circulating a petition calling on SCOTUS to approve Biden’s debt-relief plan. Will you add your name and voice your support for canceling $20,000 of student debt?
