Earlier today, our staff made a factual error in an email regarding our work with the West Virginia Poor People’s Campaign and the ongoing struggle at the Southern Regional Jail in West Virginia.

We are issuing this CORRECTION:

Quantez Burks was arrested on charges of Wanton Endangerment and Obstruction. He died within 24 hours of his arrest in the Southern Regional Jail. The State Medical Examiner claims he died of natural causes. A private autopsy later showed that he died a violent death of broken bones and blunt force trauma which caused a heart attack.
