COVID-19 self-tests

Minnesota residents have many COVID-19 testing options. One option is COVID-19 Self-testing [ [link removed] ], which may also be called an at-home test, direct-to-consumer (DTC) test, or over-the-counter (OTC) test.

You can do a self-test anywhere, such as at home. Results are ready fast, often within 15 minutes. Vaccination status does not affect test results. If your test is positive, you should follow current recommendations for how long to stay home and when to wear a mask. Learn more at?If You Are Sick or Test Positive [ [link removed] ].

*Ready.* Ask your health insurance provider how you can get COVID-19 self-tests at no cost. Free tests are also available through the State of Minnesota at Order your free at-home rapid tests [ [link removed] ]?and USPS at COVID.gov/tests [ [link removed] ].

*Set.* Know where your self-tests are at home and check the expiration dates.

*TEST!* Use your self-tests when you need them. Follow the instructions that come with the test kit. For a quick one-page guide on when to test, visit COVID-19 Testing Recommendations (PDF) [ [link removed] ].

Note: In some cases, the expiration date for a test may be extended if the manufacturer provided data showing that the shelf-life is longer than was known when the test was first authorized. Check if your COVID-19 tests' expiration dates have been extended at FDA:?List of Authorized At-Home OTC COVID-19 Diagnostic Tests [ [link removed] ].

Ready. Set. Test!
