During the campaign, we expected the right wing to come for John. And they did, relentlessly, for months. No matter how bad things got, we were prepared for it. That's what comes with running for Senate.
But you know what shouldn't? Horrific, twisted, completely false attacks on Gisele. For the past few weeks, Fox News has been full of them.
I've been lucky to know John and Gisele for years—and here's the thing: Gisele is sunshine. What I've seen behind the scenes is a mom protecting her kids, a spouse by John's side, and a woman who has stepped up in unbelievable ways for her family.
These attacks are bullshit. And they are completely over the line.
The hosts on Fox might see John seeking treatment as a moment of weakness, but we all know it took a huge amount of strength.
Every day since, the #1 subject of calls to John's Senate office have been well wishes. No matter what Fox pundits say, millions of people around the country see what John is going through and know they are not alone.
John is going to keep getting the care he needs, Gisele is going to keep looking out for her kids, and we should all keep calling out misogynistic bullshit when we see it.
