Dear John,

“Art imitates life” has to be the understatement of the year in entertainment. We are resolved to continue pushing toward more authentic and nuanced narratives as more underrepresented communities are being portrayed on television and film. Our work with studios, networks, guilds, production companies, and partner organizations in the work of inclusion strengthens our networks to improve the quality - and quantity - of Muslim representations on screen.

Here is what you can look forward to hearing about in 2020:

  • Advancing Diversity Hall of Honors
  • The Sundance Film Festival
  • Children’s Media Screenwriting Lab
  • Annual Media Awards

This is just a glimpse of the year ahead. Our work is driven by the Islamic and American principles of mercy, justice, and human dignity for all. We will continue working toward an America that reflects these ideals.

In peace,

Sue Obeidi
