Presidential inaugural poet Richard Blanco will visit the Institute for a Getting to the Point discussion on the themes he explores in his recent poetry collection, How to Love a Country, and how Americans can find common ground through shared experiences and ideals. Mr. Blanco will perform a poetry reading as part of the program and will also participate in a book signing.

The current topic of the Today’s Vote program is the Impeachment Trial of President Donald Trump. In the program, visitors participate in a live floor debate on this active piece of legislation being considered by the real Senate in Washington, D.C. The program will explain how the impeachment process works, examine past examples of impeachment, and detail the facts of the case which led to the impeachment of President Trump.

Throughout American history, there have been key moments when citizens have compelled the United States Senate to act. The Institute brings these decisive moments to life with The Citizen’s Senate. The Citizen’s Senate: Women’s Fight for Suffrage examines the struggles and ultimate success of the final decade of the women’s suffrage movement, culminating with the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
