First, I want to congratulate Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson on advancing to the runoff election and wish them and their families the best in their continued service to our city.

While our campaign is over, our work to build a better future for Chicago is not.

I’ll always be proud of the fight we put up to keep our communities safe, expand opportunities, and invest in future generations of Chicagoans.  

I want to thank my entire campaign team for their hard work, the countless volunteers and grassroots supporters who joined our effort, the Chicagoans who turned out to participate in our democracy, and the election officials who worked to administer this free and fair election.

The end of this campaign does not mark the end of our need to build a safer, more equitable Chicago for all. 

Although this isn’t the outcome we hoped for, I’ll always be grateful to be a Chicagoan, and I’ll always believe that better days for our city are still ahead.
