What happened at our Day of Action and what’s next.

Dear John,

Yesterday, President Biden recommitted to protecting care programs in the U.S. This was right after we delivered nearly 100,000 of your petition signatures to Congress at the #CareCantWait Day of Action in D.C., joined by 18 prominent advocates, senators, Congressmembers, and celebrities.

We’re all in this together now.

More than ever before, people are recognizing the work of care done by so many families, communities, and care workers – especially by women and women of color. None of this progress would have been possible without you.

Representative DeLauro speaks to a crowd at the #CareCantWait rally in Washington DC, with the Capitol building in the background.

Biden’s speech comes at a crucial time, as Medicaid is under attack and could be cut as much as 2 billion dollars. But by speaking up, we’re making care a priority and building momentum for better policies.

And, there’s more. Around the country, thousands of people like you joined the #CareCantWait Day of Action online by reaching out to their elected officials with one clear call: We need better care policies now.

Together, we have the opportunity to make transformative change. We are making huge shifts to win paid leave for all, affordable childcare, accessible home and community-based services, and fair pay for care workers.

We were the first organization to bring together a wide-ranging coalition of people touched by care – the Caring Majority – to strengthen each other in our collective fight. Our work focuses on ensuring care is understood as a shared responsibility – a collective issue – and not an individual burden. And we won’t stop until we get the care policies we deserve.

Care is a fundamental need, and our work together will change so many lives for the better. With your support, a better care system is possible.

Thank you for everything you do.

With care,

Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director
