Support available for household energy bills

The Energy Bill Support Scheme (EBSS) Alternative Funding has been launched by the Government this week. The scheme is intended to provide ?400 of support for UK households without a direct relationship to a domestic energy provider, for example those who live in care homes, in park homes, on houseboats or off the electricity grid.
Applications must be made through the UK Government portal, and not via Nottingham City Council. If you are eligible for payment, your details will be passed on to the City Council?s customer support team to make payment to you in one lump sum.

With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, it's no surprise that many people are feeling anxious about their finances. Money worries can often lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation. It?s good to talk about money. Let someone you trust know so that you don?t have to worry alone.
Next week there will be an Aspley Living Well Day event taking place at Aspley Library, Nuthall Road on Tuesday 7 March from 11am to 2pm. This event will have a wide range of stalls including employment, energy and money advice and support for older people, carers and families.?

Marking Women?s History Month
women's history month
Today marks the start of Women?s History Month, celebrating women?s contributions to history, culture, and society.
During the month we will also celebrate International Women?s Day on 8 March with a special event at the Council House in Old Market Square from 10am to 2pm.
Speakers at the event will include Angela Seddon from the University of Nottingham; Helen Voce from Nottingham Women?s Centre; Caroline Henry, the Police and Crime Commissioner and Cllr Neghat Khan, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, Safety & Inclusion at the City Council.
There will be information stalls from the voluntary and community sector and workshops from Equipped to Succeed and Public Health.
All women are welcome at the event which will be a fantastic network opportunity. ?There is no need to book a place in advance.

Benches celebrating local legends unveiled
Benches honour amazing local people including acclaimed musician, Sheku Kanneh-Mason; Olympic medal winning weightlifter, Emily Campbell and ?Mr Meadows?, Karl White, have been unveiled in Basford this week.
The council worked with Sustrans East Midlands to get these beautiful benches installed on NCN6 of the National Cycle Network on the River Leen corridor in Basford.
The national portrait bench scheme features 30 figures with installations on 14 of the most popular cycle paths across the National Cycle Network in recognition of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II?s Platinum Jubilee year. The funding comes from the Department for Transport.
