Friend, this Women’s History Month allows us to reflect on powerful, brilliant and unstoppable women -- and learn from their resilience.
Giant voices of Texas women like Ann Richards instruct us to never back down when the going gets tough. Beyoncé teaches us to love ourselves despite hardship. Emma Tenayuca empowered us to speak up for what's right. Barbara Jordan reminded us to always demand that seat at the table -- even when they say there isn’t room.
But friend, Texas Republicans have shown time and time again that the 15 million women who reside in this state don’t matter to them. Banning abortion access and birth control, limiting prenatal and postpartum care to Medicaid patients and instilling distrust in our educators who serve in a woman-dominated workforce have been some of their top priorities for decades.
And let me tell you, Friend -- Texas Democrats won’t let these harmful attacks deter our fight.
Let’s be clear: Texas women are strong leaders with a penchant for good trouble. And Texas Democrats will stop at nothing to elect more Democratic women at every level, so that we can all be proud of the state we live in.
All Women’s History Month, Texas Democrats will be uplifting the stories of women and the pressing issues that affect us. I hope you can join us in sharing these important stories that reflect who we are as a Party, a state and a community.
All the best,
Shay Wyrick-Cathey
