Don’t you think the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau should live up to its name and actually protect consumers?
Friend,
While the Trump Consumer Financial Protection Bureau prepares to gut regulations governing debt collection practices, guess where the bureau’s point man on debt collection rulemaking is right now?
He’s in Sedona, Arizona, at an “intimate gathering” hosted by the Receivables Management Association International (read: debt collectors).
CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger’s top lieutenant, Tom Pahl, is being toasted by the debt collection industry while his team at the bureau readies new rules that would grant the industry a free pass to hassle Americans with unlimited emails and texts. These new, weakened guidelines could even protect debt collection lawyers who are using shady tactics to collect debts from unsuspecting Americans!
Can you take a second to tell CFPB Director Kraninger that they should NOT let debt collectors send you unlimited texts and emails without your permission?
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau definitely shouldn’t be giving debt collectors a free pass to harass Americans while the bureau’s top brass jet-sets across America and gets wined and dined by the debt collection industry.
American consumers deserve government leaders who will go to bat for us and protect us from harmful and abusive debt collection practices.
Click here to tell the Trump CFPB to stop cozying up to debt collectors, do their job, and keep current consumer protections intact!
