News from Congressman Jake Ellzey

Dear John,

Recent News

In just two short months, we have hit the ground running with constituent meetings, organizational meetings for committees, and much more. I have had the great opportunity to connect with many of you that have visited from the district to represent your businesses, organizations, or stop by.

At the start of this month, I had the honor of meeting the A&M University Commandant, Brigadier General Patrick Michaelis. I also had the opportunity to meet with Corsicana and Midlothian Independent School Districts. It was great getting to sit down with our local leaders and discuss the importance of educating the next generation.

Additionally, I had the privilege to travel to Ukraine to ensure we have measures in place to account for every dollar, piece of equipment, and a crate of supplies that we send.

D.C. Update

As we have returned to regular order here in D.C., we have had the opportunity positively impact lives throughout the country with some significant legislation. One particular piece was H. R. 497- The Freedom for Healthcare Workers Act., which I had the honor to preside over the house floor for its passage. This bill would end the COVID vaccine mandate on our healthcare workers and the COVID-19 Health Emergency Declaration issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. This legislation returns the power of choice to the people and, most importantly, our frontline nurses and doctors.

We have also started work with our committees! I recently signed on to 25 letters sent by the Committee on Small Business to various federal agencies requesting the investigation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s implementation of the Regulatory Flexibility Act, the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act, and Executive Order 13272. These letters address regulatory processes that have negatively impacted small businesses across the country. It is time we take a stand against such overreach and ensure that elected officials who are accountable to the people, not unelected bureaucrats are those who establish the laws that govern our country.

Joys and Concerns

Recently one of our very own school districts got national recognition. Mansfield Independent School District was named on the Forbes’ list of America’s Best Midsize Employers! This means that Mansfield ISD joins the top 1 percent of employers across the nation. This honor is great not just for all of the dedicated employees of MISD, but for our district as a whole. This award truly shows how impactful a positive and student-focused foundation can build such a strong community for not only the students but all of the employees. Mansfield ISD is a great place to live, learn and teach! Image
