Issue No. 1
LULAC.org

Dear John,

Welcome to LULAC’s first issue of La Liga--a weekly online newsletter that brings you news and opportunities to stay informed about our work and, most importantly, our communities. Here we center our stories and highlight a spirit of collaboration between members, allies, and partners alike.

This week, we focus on Puerto Rico by sharing the impact LULAC members and local leaders have made in mobilizing together. We also share opportunities for you to apply for funding or join us in D.C. for our annual Legislative Awards Gala, Emerge Latino Conference, and State of Latino America Summit.

Our Top Story

The Latest from Puerto Rico

Starting more than two weeks ago, Puerto Rico was ravaged by major earthquakes which displaced more than 2,000 residents in the city of Ponce alone. Through the funds raised by LULAC’s relief effort, LULAC National helped deliver supplies to families affected. We could not have done this without the local support of volunteers and leadership of LULAC’s National VP for Women.

While smaller tremors continue in Puerto Rico, residents remain strong and hopeful. Earlier this week, LULAC members in Puerto Rico continued to be involved and distributed supplies.

LULAC National will be on the ground in Puerto Rico this Friday to assess the situation first-hand and to mobilize a delegation of leaders, including LULAC National President and LULAC National CEO. Join the delegation by texting “PUERTO RICO” to 52886 and opt-in to receive text updates on Puerto Rico.
