Dear John,
This is an especially emotional time for our Troops and their families.
They are living with so much uncertainty...
It's been about a year since Russia invaded Ukraine and no one expected this conflict to continue so
long. Extended deployments and rotations are continuing longer than originally planned.
The Ukrainians have suffered many losses, but they are enduring and continue to fiercely fight to hold
on to their country.
Due to Russia's economic, social and military power, it is extremely difficult for many other nations to
assist Ukraine. It truly is a political quagmire.
However, there are countries that are doing what they can to help, including the U.S. This aid consists
of accepting Ukrainian refuges and providing them with food, shelter, clothing, and various humanitarian assistance. The U.S. and many of its allies
have also recently provided weapon systems, military training, armored vehicles, anti-aircraft missiles and coastal defense ships.
And most recently, the 101st Airborne Division (the Screaming Eagles) has been moved to southeast
Romania, the closest to the Russian border that the U.S. has dared to go since the start of this conflict. Reports tell us that this location is near
to where Moscow is amassing weapons and our Troops are there building trenches, staging helicopter attacks, and performing artillery exercises.
Unfortunately, Russia has newly deployed tens of thousands additional troops to the front lines in
Ukraine, however, with this latest move, the Screaming Eagles are well positioned to provide a robust deterrent and defensive posture alongside U.S.
Allies.
In addition, due to North Korea's unprecedented number of missile fires in 2022, and then their decision
to fire three short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea east of the Korean Peninsula at the end of December, has resulted in an agreement between
the U.S and South Korea to expand their joint military efforts.
There are currently 28,500 U.S. Service Members stationed in South Korea who maintain security on the
Korean Peninsula and stability in Northeast Asia, however with the heightened, aggressive moves by North Korea, more deployments are expected. The
expanded U.S. actions will stretch from Japan to the Solomon Islands involving advanced military exercises in the region and additional troop
rotations in key areas facing the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea.
As tensions heat up around the world, and more of our Troops are activated, is it any wonder that
requests for support from our deployed (and soon to be deployed) Service Members are increasing?
And AdoptaPlatoon, with the support of patriotic Americans across the U.S., responds to every
one of their requests as quickly as possible. And we have for 25 years now...
Check out this email we received last year from two of our long-time supporters:

Subject: My son deployed
Hello,
My name is Dawn Reall and my husband, Gus, and I have been donating $33 a month for several years and I
believe we once provided socks to an entire platoon. Our son, XXXXXX XXXX, was deployed to XXXXX about two months ago for his 9 month deployment. The other day he sent us a picture of the attached
letter and boy it really made my day. First, that he knows we have been doing this for years and now his entire group knows too, secondly that he
received a box from us and lastly that it was proof too me that our money goes where you said it was going. So, thank you for all that you do and all
the other people involved with this program!

Isn't that amazing?
Dawn's and Gus' words of support truly warmed my heart and I hope they touch you as well and help you
understand how much your Care Packages mean to our Service Members and their families.
I also hope that you will lend your support to our brave men and women in uniform.
For a one-time gift of $38, your Care Package will be chocked-full of items that our Service Members
have requested including hand sanitizer, cleansing wipes, field dental kits, nail clippers, bootlaces, and socks.
Your Care Package will also include soap, shampoo and a shaving kit (Operation Clean Shave) plus other
personal hygiene and quality-of-life items. And, as winter is upon them, hand warmers and blankets will be sent and, of course, special treats to
remind them of home, such as Pop•Tarts®, Kellogg's® Rice Krispies Treats (a favorite), beef sticks, tuna packets, trail mix, and
cookies.
And perhaps most importantly, each Care Package contains an encouraging note with your words of support
and appreciation boosting the morale of our Troops! Perhaps your Care Package will get into the hands of a Service Member that you know like Dawn and
Gus' did!
