We all know housing is a human right. As a caucus, one of our biggest priorities this legislative session – and every session – is to address the housing crisis that impacts every corner of our state.
Our Senators Patty Kuderer and Yasmin Trudeau are leading the charge on building more affordable housing and stabilizing rents so families are not priced out of their homes.
One of our newest Senators, Sharon Shewmake, introduced legislation to allow ADUs in urban growth areas – helping to create housing that fits the community in cities across Washington. This bill passed off the Senate floor yesterday!
And because this year is a budget year, WA Senate Democrats are fighting for a budget that supports these values with historic investments in the Housing Trust Fund, the Eviction Defense Screening Line, and other programs to address homelessness.
We know ending our housing crisis will take time. WA Senate Democrats are committed to this work to ensure every person has a safe, warm place to call home.
Take care,
Team WSDC
