The American labor movement is experiencing a reawakening. However, the inability of workers to translate union organizing campaigns into union representation is a direct result of our broken and outdated labor laws — laws that favor employers while curtailing workers’ rights.

Millions of people in the United States want to work but cannot access employment and quality job opportunities due to many factors rooted in structural inequity. Every five years, Congress debates funding levels and eligibility rules for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—the nation’s most effective tool for fighting hunger—as part of the Farm Bill reauthorization. With negotiations for the 2023 Farm Bill underway, CLASP is poised to ensure lawmakers hear our unique insights on strengthening the program for workers’ economic security—including through the SNAP E&T program.
