After Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, a few staffers decided to continue the work to fight to elect progressives by launching Justice Democrats. For a team with a small budget, we’ve had quite an impact in the last few years.

We recruited AOC, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman to run and helped their campaigns win in competitive primary elections against entrenched incumbents. And in November, we helped Greg Casar and Summer Lee to victory.

But here’s the unfortunate news: we’ve been facing an unprecedented slowdown in our fundraising. And as a grassroots-funded organization, our fundraising makes a big impact on the support we’re able to offer our candidates.

If we don’t turn our fundraising around soon, we’ll have to consider making budget cuts, which will impact the work that we have ahead of us.
