All eyes are on TX-23 as the country’s best opportunity to flip a seat from red to blue and expand Democrats’ majority in the House. It’s certainly one of the most important elections happening this November.
But it’s also personal for me.
I was raised by a single mother on the west side of San Antonio, and I know what is possible when our elected leaders invest in our most vulnerable populations. At times, my family lived in subsidized housing and relied on reduced-price lunches. It was those investments that allowed me to graduate at the top of my class, earn an ROTC scholarship, and serve our country in the Air Force.
My community invested in me, and I’m running for Congress to make sure that everyone in South and West Texas has the same opportunities that allowed my sister and me to grow up healthy, get an education, and serve our country.
