Serving the Hudson Valley
February 2023
Hi team,
February has been a busy month — it’s hard to believe that it’s almost over! From the State of the Union Address to the Super Bowl, it’s been an exciting time for the American people. I’ve been enjoying watching Army’s basketball teams play this month (and seeing the women’s basketball team win a big game against Navy!).
Earlier this month, I introduced my first bill of the new Congress, the Health Care Fairness for Military Families Act. This legislation would expand health care coverage to TRICARE beneficiaries with adult children ages 26 and under, lower costs, and protect access for military families from coast to coast — and it’s what is fair for hundreds of thousands of families who deserve the same care as every other American family.
Military families give so much to our country — their sacrifices should be rewarded, which is why it’s unacceptable that their health care access is different than every other American.
This bill has bipartisan support and is backed by dozens of military organizations. I’m hard at work to get it passed in Congress and signed into law — stay tuned for updates on the bill’s passage!
Keep reading below for an update on what else we’ve been up to this month:

Hand-delivering Valentine’s cards to veterans in the Hudson Valley was special. It’s deeply important to me to thank our veterans for their service and show them love and support from our community.

Jewish Insider: “Pat Ryan takes aim at antisemitism, Iran from the Armed Services Committee”
I spoke with Jewish Insider about the rising threat of antisemitism — an issue incredibly personal to me. My wife and two sons are Jewish, and my district has a large Jewish community. It sickens me to see the rise of antisemitism across the country, and on the House Armed Services Committee, I am doing everything in my power to respond to rising threats to the Jewish community. The National Defense Authorization Act , which is crafted in my committee every year, presents an opportunity to bolster the mission of combating antisemitism.
I’m also committed to addressing rising global threats, including Iran. I served overseas in the Middle East, and I understand the continued threat Iran poses to our national security. Working with colleagues, both Democrats and Republicans, I know we have an opportunity to address Iran’s continued aggression toward Israel.

An update on Central Hudson
Last month, I wrote to you about my continued efforts to hold Central Hudson accountable for its recklessness and harm to families in our community. I called on the resignation of Central Hudson’s CEO from the floor of the House — and earlier this month, he did just that.
I am encouraged that Central Hudson took this first step toward rebuilding public trust – now, they must take urgent action to fix their broken systems and repay customers who were wronged. I will be meeting with the new CEO in the coming weeks to ensure concrete steps are being taken to correct the continued systemic failures and to finally make customers whole.
Your opinion, stories, and experiences are crucial to ensuring productive conversations and addressing the corporate ineptitude that caused tremendous harm to our communities. Help us ensure your voice is heard and let us know what you want to see from Central Hudson in this survey. [[link removed]]

Congratulations to my friend, Jennifer McClellan, who won a special election in Virginia. I’m looking forward to working with her in Congress to defend our rights and freedoms and build an economy that works for everyone.
Thank you for staying engaged in our campaign’s work. I’m driven to deliver results for our families and communities every single day, and it means a lot that you’re paying attention to what we’re doing and giving input every step of the way. I’m here in Congress to represent you.
Yours in service,
Pat
