For me, every day is Black History.

While today marks the end of Black History Month, it's essential to acknowledge that Black history is happening all around us. It's happening in the streets, in our classrooms, in our communities, and our own homes. Black history is not a thing of the past; it's an ongoing story that continues to shape our society and culture. As we take this moment to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of Black people throughout history, we must also remember that there is still much work to be done.

From the cultural debate over the teaching of Black history in our schools to an unfair justice system that disproportionately affects Black communities, we must continue to draw attention to and address the systemic practices that inhibit many from reaching their full potential.

To support Black lives means we support Black businesses, artists, and organizations. It means acknowledging the experiences of Black people and amplifying their voices. It means standing up against racism, discrimination, and injustice anywhere and everywhere you see it.

Here’s the truth—at the heart of Black History Month is a commitment to a better future. It's a reminder that we are all responsible for shaping the world we want to live in. It's a call to action to build a society that genuinely embraces freedom, liberty, and equity for all people.

So, this month and every month moving forward, let us commit ourselves to listening to Black voices, uplifting Black experiences and demonstrating in our actions that every day, Black Lives Matter.

Together, I look forward to building a nation with you as good as its promise.
