For those unable to attend, we?re planning to livestream Robert Llewellyn?s keynote speech. More about this aspect to follow.

Pump House get to grips with sustainable transport
With the support of the Council?s Workplace Travel Service, a successful bike brunch took place at Nottingham business Pump House Limited. The event encouraged employees to think about the way they?re currently travelling to work and shape the way they view sustainable transport. The event provided interactive and informative sessions, allowing staff to make informed decisions about sustainable transport. Workplace Travel Service partners, Sustrans, provided insight into Nottingham?s cycling infrastructure, walking options, and public transport, whilst advising about cheaper, healthier and more efficient ways to travel to work. Expert bike mechanics were also on deck providing bike repairs and offering bike maintenance sessions to help staff keep their bike in tiptop condition.
Pump House have also grasped with both hands the opportunity to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure, encouraging staff to opt for cleaner more climate friendly vehicles. Visit their case study here.
Wireless taxi charging coming soon to Nottingham
Charging? Without wires? That?s right. Funding secured by Nottingham City Council from Innovate UK means we?ll be trialling ?wireless? taxi charging in the near future. Charging ?pads? will be placed in one of Nottingham?s hackney taxi ranks so cabs can charge while they wait. This pioneering project reduces the need for dedicated charge points and enables multiple cabs to charge at once as they move up the rank.
Funding covers the installation of the wireless charging ?pads? as well as 10 new electric cabs available for drivers to trial.
Kia expanding their electric collection
Kia, one of the leading suppliers of EVs, have announced plans for 11 BEVs (battery electric vehicles) by 2025. This exciting news will bring a much larger variety of cars to the market, giving a greater choice of which electric vehicle to drive.
Along with the new BEVs, Kia have also made fantastic additions to their plug in range with the introduction of the new X-Ceed and Ceed Sportswagen PHEVs.
More funding for our ULEV dreams
Highways England have just granted the Council money to continue to expand, loaning ultra low emission vehicles to businesses so they can test them out with their fleets. This funding will also help to install charge points for these vehicles, further helping businesses interested in turning their fleets electric. More details to follow?
Nottingham?s going greener
We?ve declared a climate emergency! To respond, Nottingham has made the commitment to become the first carbon neutral city in the country, reaching this target by 2028. For the Go Ultra Low team, that means continuing to encourage the uptake of ultra low emission vehicles, reducing tailpipe emissions and greenhouse gasses throughout the city. A citywide consultation on the action plan opened on 20 January.
The Council wants your feedback to our plan by responding to this online survey.
