I wish I could do more.

I left Ukraine a little over a year ago, and it feels like yesterday. I know how fortunate I am to be safe here in London, and I'm so proud that my job with the IRC allows me to support other Ukrainian refugees. But still, I wish I had the power to do more to help.

I get that feeling whenever I think about my hometown of Kharkiv, and how much has changed in the past year. And it's especially strong in those rare times when I am able to talk to my mom, still in Ukraine, who is doing all she can to stay safe and warm this winter.

I know I'm not the only one. From the moment the conflict escalated last February, countless people have found ways to turn their concern and compassion into real, tangible support for those affected by war.

Today, I'm asking you to show that same commitment once again. Make a gift right now to support refugees and other displaced families and your gift will be doubled, up to a total of $200,000. This special matching gift is your chance to make an even bigger difference: [link removed]

When a crisis happens somewhere in the world, whether it's violence, an earthquake, or some other disaster, it's difficult to know the best way to help. I'm proud to know firsthand how hard the IRC works to ensure that resources go where they can do the most good.

In Ukraine, that has meant winter kits, blankets, solid fuel stoves and more to keep people warm this winter. IRC staff and local partners run safe spaces within Ukraine to provide counseling and education for women and children. And many refugees who have left Ukraine โ€” like me โ€” have been able to find work, financial support, and housing through the IRC.

Your support matters, and today you can do even more to support displaced people.

2X YOUR IMPACT ยป

I know that a humanitarian crisis like what is happening in Ukraine is bigger than any one person can solve. But I still believe that each of us has the power to help, even in a small way. And I have seen with my own eyes that together we can make a real difference.

Thank you for doing what you can to support people in Ukraine, and around the world.
