NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger Monday met with NCUA Board Member Rodney Hood to discuss credit union involvement in the Greenhouse Gas Reduction (GHGR) Fund to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
SCOTUS to consider constitutionality of CFPB funding ([link removed] )
The U.S. Supreme Court Monday announced it will take up a challenge to the CFPB’s funding structure during its next term, slated to start in October. The lawsuit stems from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the CFPB’s funding structure is unconstitutional as it does not go through the congressional appropriations process.

The House Financial Services Committee holds a markup today and is set to consider a bill – the Financial Data Privacy Act (H.R. 1165) – from Chairman Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., to amend the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) as it relates to data privacy. Ahead of the markup, NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler outlined areas of support and potential improvement within the bill.

Berger expresses support for bill prohibiting Fed issuance of CBDC ([link removed] )
NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger wrote to Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., to express support for introducing the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act as it would assuage privacy concerns and protect the stability of the financial system. The bill would prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and prevent the Fed from using a CBDC to implement monetary policy.
