Despite the growing number of youth actively seeking employment, 1.5 million young people aged 16-24 years are currently unable to secure a job for many reasons, including: difficulty navigating their field or workforce, lack of opportunity, a widening skills gap, and limited access to resources and networks. In response, stakeholders across sectors are taking on the responsibility to break down barriers and connect the high school experience to postsecondary pathways so that students start jobs with the skills needed for today’s workplace.

Together, high schools, employers, community organizations, and others equip young people with the skills they need to be successful. Partnerships among these diverse groups are what make a difference in young people’s lives, whether they have left school and need to be re-engaged or have graduated and are looking to enter the workforce.

In this webinar, GradNation and the YES Project will elevate the success of This Way Ahead at GAP Inc., a workforce readiness program that is working to close the opportunity gap for youth ages 16-24 years by providing them with the networks and training they need to confidently enter the workforce. We will emphasize the importance of identifying and building the skills that allow young people to thrive in the classroom, after graduation, and in the workplace.

Join America’s Promise Alliance’s education and youth employment campaigns – GradNation and the YES Project – to learn more about how the business community and community organizations can support youth who are navigating the road between high school and employment.
