In an interview published in Imprimis, Hillsdale’s digest of liberty, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Clarence Thomas explained what he sees as his role on the nation’s highest court: “My job is to apply the Constitution.” 

But progressives see the Court differently. They want activist judges to legislate from the bench.

Even worse, progressives dismayed by recent Supreme Court decisions want to “pack” the bench with additional justices to advance a preferred policy agenda. 

As Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) put it in a Boston Globe op-ed: “To restore balance and integrity to a broken institution, Congress must expand the Supreme Court by four or more seats.”
