Dear Friend,

As your representative in Congress, I’ve made it a priority to ensure North Texas schools get the resources they need and our local educators get the support they deserve. As the son of a public school teacher, and a former North Texas public school student, I understand the importance of a quality education.

That’s why on January 21, I hosted an education roundtable listening session in Richardson. I met with teachers and education leaders from the Richardson Independent School District, Richland College, the University of Texas at Dallas and the American Federation of Teachers to discuss the educational needs of North Texas schools and students from pre-K to college.

Listening to local experts who know the issues our students and institutions are facing helps me fight for North Texas priorities in Congress. At the end of last year, I voted for a bipartisan budget and spending deal that invested in better schools and job training. This included $17 billion in programs for education for the disadvantaged and $5.4 billion for job training programs.

I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without our public school system. One of the best ways folks can better their lives and live their version of the American Dream, is a good education. I was glad to join local education experts from our community in North Texas discuss how we can work together to ensure that everyone in North Texas can have access to a world-class education.

I will continue to work with both parties to advocate for North Texas values in Washington. It is an honor to serve the 32nd District of North Texas, where I was born, raised, and educated. Please subscribe to my newsletter to stay up to date on my work: allred.house.gov/contact/newsletter.
