Dear LULAC Familia and Friends,
¡Ahora si! This is it! A big LULAC week is coming in Washington, DC, and I’m
sending you a personal invitation to join us.
Now is the time to register for the 2023 LULAC Legislative Conference and Awards
Gala on March 8-9 at the historic Omni Shoreham Hotel as we celebrate LULAC’s
historic 94th anniversary. Join this exciting and powerful milestone event when
we welcome several of America’s most important policymakers and Latino
influencers.
Meet Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Assistant Deputy
Secretary Montserrat Garibay with the Department of Education, and Representative
Maxwell Frost from Florida’s 10th District. Listen, ask questions, and share in
the experience as we explore the most critical issues facing more than 62 million
Latinos in the U.S. and Puerto Rico today.
Also, celebrate with us at the 26th LULAC Awards Gala when we honor individuals
who have made historic contributions to our community:
* The brave U.S. Army veteran Richard Fierro risked his life to stop a mass
shooter in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
* Javier Cazares, a national voice for gun reforms and father of 9-year-old
Jacklyn, who was one of the children lost in the tragic Uvalde, Texas, school
attack.
* Iris Martinez, former Illinois state senator and first Latina elected to
serve as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Cooke County, one of the largest
unified court systems in the world.
* Rep. Peter Aguilar, Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of
Representatives and a leading advocate for America’s veterans and funding
critical youth programs.
* Isabel Verver-de la Vega, founder and first teacher of the LULAC Little
School of 400, the program that President Lyndon B. Johnson used as a model
for Head Start.
* Jose Altuvé, 2nd Baseman for the 2022 MLB World Series Champions, the Houston
Astros, and one of the nation’s outstanding youth role models in professional
sports.
These two events will be memorable for LULAC and I want you to be part of them.
Register today [ [link removed] ] because space is limited,
and let’s plan on sharing history.
¡Hasta La Victoria!
