John,
Hi, my name is Emily Wright and I’m the Development Director for River Valley Organizing. I’m a resident of Columbiana County, just a few miles from the recent train derailment and explosion site in East Palestine, Ohio. I’m reaching out with an important ask: will you contribute $5 today to support our community during this crisis, and in the future for justice-centered healing?

A few days ago, a train carrying a toxic, cancer-causing chemical – vinyl chloride – derailed and crashed near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border, causing a massive fire. Days later, another explosion was triggered causing chaos and confusion.
The people in our community are in a crisis, and even though nearby communities were evacuated, the toxic smoke from the blast has spread across several counties and hundreds reported nausea, vomiting, headaches, shortness of breath, teeth pain, and diarrhea.
The fallout from the explosion will have a long-term impact not just on our community but also on the environment. The water is contaminated and residents are left to clean up their homes with no proper testing or assistance.
Our hard-working farmers, small business owners, and families are at increased health risk and we need your support to stand up for their safety. We have decades of implications on our hands.
Will you contribute $5 right now to support River Valley Organizing's ongoing efforts for the communities affected by the derailment?

Thank you for your support.
Emily Wright
