Democrats,
Changing the culture of a party as diverse as ours in a state as large as California is not easy. But, as President Obama said: we do big things.
In 2021, the California Democratic Party piloted a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) discussion series as part of a larger effort to become an anti-racist organization. In this 8-part series, we created a brave space for facilitated conversations about racism, ableism, homophobia, microaggressions and more with the aim of making our party a more inclusive and welcoming place for all who want to elect Democrats.
We’re excited to continue these important conversations in the future, but need your help recruiting facilitators for the JEDI Discussion series.
The ideal facilitator is:
- A registered Democrat
- Passionate about justice, equity, diversity and inclusion
- Enjoys leading and participating in small community discussions
- Interested in supporting positive culture change in the Democratic Party
- Wants to learn more about justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and grow as a leader
- Able to participate in an in-person training in Los Angeles on May 26th
- Committed to leading or co-leading 1-3 JEDI Discussion series groups
If you or someone you know is interested, sign up through the application. We’re asking applicants to complete the application no later than March 22, 2023.
Application »We will have an in-person training for those accepted as facilitators on Friday, May 26th - prior to the beginning of Convention - in Los Angeles. In this training, we will go in depth about what it means to be a facilitator in this JEDI discussion series, what the program entails, how to defuse tension, how to steer people to think about taking action to advance JEDI principles within the party, how to be a stronger facilitator, and more.
Can we count on you? If so, please remember to apply to be a facilitator before March 22nd.
