On President’s Day, MAGA extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted,
“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue
states and shrink the federal government.”^1

This is extremely dangerous language that suggests, peaceful or not, the
United States of America needs to be taken apart. The U.S. House of
Representatives must send a clear message that statements like this are
unacceptable.

and our democracy, at risk.

Greene was removed from her committees one month into taking office in
2021 for statements in support of political violence, and promoting racist
and anti-semitic conspiracy theories.^2

Greene’s history of inciting political violence and her ties to the
violent January 6th insurrection are reasons enough for the House of
Representatives to punish her. Now, these comments, ringing of MAGA
extremists’ call for a ‘civil war,’ cannot be tolerated.

Failure to hold Greene accountable for this tweet would be a sign from
Congress that such dangerous calls for the ripping apart of the country
are OK. They’re not OK.
